Whilst providing emergency PR and Communications cover for Gravesham Borough Council, Honeypot Destination Marketing Ltd were asked to undertake a social media campaign for the council-owned Woodville Halls Theatre Complex which would to engage local people and to increase awareness and interest in the theatre.
We undertook a basic audit of the existing digital marketing activities at the time and developed a social media campaign which would:
Increase the number of followers on Facebook and Twitter
Increase the regularity of posts to the social media accounts
Improve the content of posts
As part of the campaign we ensured that comments were acknowledged and responded to, and within a timely fashion and all posts were linked to relevant website pages to enhance information provision and increase website traffic. We also recommended that in the longer term, one person should be identified to assume responsibility for social media activity and a specific social media and communications strategy be developed.
We were engaged to kick start the actions on behalf of the Woodville Halls and within one week had dramatically increased the followers on social media (from just 14 to 300 on Twitter alone). We looked for quality followers who were likely to be interested in the product and who were likely to use the theatre complex rather than just chasing large numbers of followers alone, to ensure that our client would be able to engage these followers in the future.
We designed posts that would encourage dialogue with followers and worked with the casts of some of the current and upcoming shows to add a more glamorous aspect to the information being distributed, as well as providing opportunities to link to a number of website pages. We ensured that all communications were two-way and posted information and updates daily.
We continued to research both the product and the target market and fine-tuned the posts accordingly. We also updated the cover images for the pages and the basic information, and made sure that all stories were supported by great photos.
The brief for this project was to set up a sound basis for the client to then continue to managetheir social media effectively for the future which they now continue to do.
